    Hey all,

After getting 2 weeks pay on the 15th (or thereabouts) I was told there wouldnt be a pay day the next week as I was getting double - fair enough.

So I went down to collect this morning and the post office was closed and it said payments for today were made on the 23rd!!! WTF?! I wasnt told this by the teller.

Can I go in tomorrow (Wed) and collect it then or have I missed out?

    Thanks.

The same thing happened me. I thought this week was back to normal payments and I am now worried that I have missed a payment. I also want to know if it will still be available tomorrow?

There was no change of plan. The following are the Christmas Arrangements as posted on the first page of the Dep of Social Welfare and Family Affairs website before Christmas. This was the horses mouth as far as payments were concerned and not the An Post tellers who perhaps with the best of intentions gave out conflicting info in some localities.

" Department of Social and Family Affairs - Christmas Arrangements
Offices of the Department of Social and Family Affairs will be open for business over the Christmas period as follows:

    Thursday 24 December 2009 Open
    Friday 25 December 2009 Closed
    Monday 28 December 2009 Closed
    Tuesday 29 December 2009 Closed
    Wednesday 30 December 2009 Open
    Thursday 31 December 2009 Open
    Friday 01 January 2010 Closed

    General Payment Arrangements
All customers paid weekly will receive their normal payment(s) and an advance payment during the week beginning 14th December 2009. The advance payment will be the payment(s) due in the week beginning 21st December and therefore there will be no payment (s) that week.

Early Childcare Supplement payment will be made on Monday 14th

    Other Payments
Payment normally made on Thursday 24th may be collected on Monday 21st
Payment normally made on Friday 25th may be collected on Tuesday 22nd
Payment normally made on Monday 28th may be collected on Tuesday 22nd
Payment normally made on Tuesday 29th may be collected on Wednesday 23rd

Post Office and Bank Opening Hours
Post Offices and Banks will close at lunch time on 24th December and will not reopen until Wednesday 30th December.

Post Offices and Banks will be closed on 1st January 2010.

Post Offices will be open on Saturday 2nd January until 1 p.m."

I saw this in the post office today. However it was only posted there on the week beginning monday 21st, and since most claimants were unlikely to be in the post office that week or the week before, how were they to know?

Where does this leave people who thought that yesterday was business as usual, given that the post offices were closed all this week?

I was given double on the 16th and told to still collect on the 23rd and then no payments until January. I went in to collect on 23rd and she said (different lady) to come in on the 30th!

Serious balls up I hope by the state and not the lady in the post office costing my a week

My payments went as follows :
2 weeks on the 15th which said from the 15th of December to the 22nd ( which is 2 weeks in a 1 week period ) I wasn't told why there was a double week

1 week on the 23rd because there was a delay on payments and nothing was there on Tuesday from the 22nd to the 29th

Seeing the money I got on the 23rd said to the 29th I went to the postie yesterday and they were closed. They were open today but nothing was there for me. I'm assuming that's why I got a double week on the 15th.

If you missed your payment on the 22nd / 23rd you may have to go back into the Social to resign on because you missed a payment on the 22nd / 23rd. You'll find out next Tuesday.

    Nothing Official just my payments

Payment for 23/12 to 29/12 which was oddly supposed to be collected on thr 23rd, was available today regardless in this poster's post office.
