    Hi all,
I have a new Ipod touch 32GB and am demented from trying to get the stupid thing working so really need any help or advice please!!!!!!
The ipod shows up in my computer as apple ipod but is not detected by Itunes so i cant do anything with it. My device manager is detecting it as an image device (digital camera) but still calling it apple ipod. So far ive tried the following with no change:

All my usb drivers are uninstalled, reinstalled and updated (there was another problem that required me to do this anyway) so the connection to the laptop is fine.
    Ive uninstalled and reinstalled itunes.
Ive followed the trouble shoot on apple site for 'itunes not detecting ipod but windows is'.
ive changed the connecting cable for the ipod (my old nano works using either old or new cable)
Ive updated Itunes to the newest version, ive also updated windows!
    Ive activated itunes store account.
When i connect the ipod windows asks if i want to open it under fujifilm, olympus etc... (all the photo folders i have) and not if i want to open it in itunes. Dont know if this makes a difference.

So now im at a loss as to what to do next!!!!! Id welcome any advice anyone can give me or am i at the stage where i need a professional to sort out whatevers going on?
    Thanks in advance!!

A friend of mine had a similar sounding problem. During the first connection to his PC it asked if he wanted to upgrade the firmware. It didn't go well after that and the PC wouldn't recognise it.

Apparently to return an iPod you need an authorisation code hrom Apple. You would be best off to ring them. They'll also talk you through potential fixes.
