    Nice one Paul,

He's not a musician, I wonder how common that is within the world of successful music producers?

Very. Or it used to be.

I own a few musicial instruments, I'm no musician though. I'd imagine the Maestro is in the same boat!

Amazing. I would have thought at least 80% of people drift into music production from being involved in a band in some capacity.

I take it you can knock a tune out of your instruments SR?

Is there anyone on here involved in production who cannot play a musical instrument?

It's interesting to hear what he said on using the 16 track over the 24. And how he's going to record the Coral on tape.

Any idea what he intends using the SMTPE on track 16 for? To sync the tape to a sequencer?

I think in this instance he was joking making the point he didn't even need the 16 tracks, and there was 1 free for smpte if needed.

As well as driving sequencers it could be used for console automation or tape transport positioning.

I remember in my tape days I had a box built that would turn on talkback once it didn't 'hear' smpte i.e. when the tape stopped ! Very cool for instant communication.
