need to hunt down a 7 seater for my wife, want to spend around 7k.

Trying to avoid Renault's and Zafira, a Galaxy around 04 would be great.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Cash waiting!

If you're in the market for a Galaxy, also consider the VW Sharan and the SEAT Alhambra as they are the same car.

I'm getting 44 MPG from my 2.2 D-4D Toyota Corolla Verso.
She cruised over to and on into England at a steady high speed this year too.

No sacrifice except in not spending as much in fuel as I had before in any of our MPV's.

Avoid that Previa which was suggested.
Its the Ugliest MPV on the Road in my opinion and your kids wont appreciate you for it.

I would have reccomended a Toyota MPV due to the reliability thats almost gaurenteed with them. However, they all come with Big Engines which wouldn't be worth your while.

I understand you don't like the Opel Zafira? There is plenty of them about so therefore you have a better chance of getting a great deal on one.

Grand Scenic? Worth a look, likely to be troublesome though.

How much is the annual road tax?

How much is the annual road tax?

Pre 2008 registered models would be around €860 to €900 per year.

With a budget of €7k nothing he buys will be 08 on though so doesnt really help the OP.

WTF! are you suggesting that Japanese cars are less safe than others?

Haven't heard as much nonsense from a single poster since yer man SIR was around.
everyone's entitled to an opinion but this constant ill-informed diarrhoea is getting a little annoying.

Another 7-seater would be VW Touran. They're nice and handy cars. Best to look out for 1.9TDI, and not for the 2.0TDI's.

but the 2.0 is far superior to the 1.9, why avoid?

    Split opinions there.

    My reasoning:
    - 1.9 TDI is a far more solid engine. Should anything go wrong oil-wise with the 2.0TDI, your turbo is immidiatly bust, reason that the oil pressure can't be held up the same way as in a 1.9TDI.
    - importing a second hand 1.9TDI, there is a huge difference on the VRT, so it'll be much easier to match the 7k budget with the 1.9TDI.

Again, this is my opinion and experience, which might not match yours.

Any TDI touran in the UK that would be home, VRT'd and finished for €7k wouldn't be worth bothering with IMO.

catchtank will solve any issues with oil entering in the turbo.. 30 euros on ebay a garage will fit it.. or if your handy you can.

issue on both the 1.9 and the 2.0 FYI
