Yes they will work, but you dont need one unless u want it for FIVER and five and sky 3.

All other channels such as channel4, channel 5 ( can be added to extra channels)are now free...

Don't forget Channel 4HD if you have a HD receiver!

You wont even have to go to other channels for channel4, just channel 5.

I don't have any card in my spare box and have uk menu. Five is on other channels but I cant get fiver, sky3.

More 4, e4 are free on the epg. all bbc stations and itv london.

Nope, you can't, but in the OPs case, Sky+ services require a monthly sky subscription to work in which case you would be automatically posted an active, replacement card! :)

    Hi there,

To get a new/replacement card from sky simply go to the website that pops up on screen and type in the card number.
Put in your address (yes in Ireland) as long as you put a valid UK postcode and phone number the new card will be set out.
You gotta love automated systems I got my new card last oct, just one thing
if you want to change your region to a say scotland then just use a scotish postcode.

How do you get it activated then?

    Hello,

As it was a replacement card it worked straight out of the box (envelope)
No phone calll needed at all.
The one thing I do remember is provided the card you have was originally ordered after May 2006 the new card is free.

Did you have to return your old blue viewing card?

if you want to change your region to a say scotland then just use a scotish postcode

Most people in Ireland would probably be after an NI card. All NI postcodes follow the format BT (one or two digits) (space) (one digit)(two letters)

For other regions google a business in the relevent region and use its postcode

Once the replacement card was working I threw the old blue card away (as per the blurb that was with the new card)

Ok, thanks for the info, suppose it's down to luck then that it was originally ordered after May 2006, none of the ones I had were...

Got an english friend to get me one though.

How much if before May 2006, will they accept Irish CC? I'm pretty sure mine will have been before then.

    Hello,

See extract from sky web site

    https://mysky.sky.com/replacecard/

Do I have to pay for a new viewing card?
If you're not automatically being mailed a card you can check whether you are required to pay for a new viewing card by entering your details on our Get a Card page. This will confirm whether you are entitled to a free card or if you will be required to purchase a card for £20.

You are eligible for a free card if you:

Purchased Freesat from Sky with a viewing card and a Sky box after 1st May 2004
Purchased or replaced your Sky viewing card (on its own, without a box) after 1st May 2006
Please note, the following customers will automatically be sent a free replacement viewing card and do not need to register or purchase a new viewing card from this site

If you pay a monthly subscription with any TV service provider.
If you are a Pay Once Watch Forever customer
If you are part of the Digital Switch Over (DSO) Help Scheme
If this has not yet arrived, don't worry, we are planning to continue mailing out replacement cards through to early October.

If you regularly purchase pay per view events but don't have a subscription then you may also be sent a free replacement card automatically, please contact your provider to check.

Please see our website www.skyviewinghelp.com for more information.

    Hope this helps

    Frank

Did a search so I'll just post this question here and continue the thread, TIA

As was said before I have an old blue card which requires replacement, its a freeview Scottish card which was reged prior to the free white card upgrade if you get me. Anyhow Sky want £20 to replace it which I'd pay but they will not post to Ireland / accept an irish CC?

    So some questions;

Can I get a replacement card from an irish supplier / net?
If so, how much would it cost?
    Which supplier would you reccommend?
Can I get a Scottish/NI/UK card, basiclly channel FIVE?
    Will the card be activated?
How long would this last i.e. until SKY change the encryption again?
    Anything else I should know?

    Thanks.

I've followed the instructions in the following thread 2 time with 100% success, a 3rd card arrived this week I'm activating it tomorrow - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055800625.

Irish supplier - tradetv.ie , the price is on their site but the above method is cheaper. http://www.tvtrade.ie/satellite-installation-accessories/satellite-cards.html

By the way Five no longer requires a card

I can have a new white card but I decided it was a waste of money.
