This is leaving it a bit late but is it pointless bringing my trusty 1911 tomorow with cold weather we are having. Im a sniper so its pretty important  What do you guys do? Not bother with gas?

    Thanks! :)

I considered the mac11 but decided that its likely even that will freeze(Surprisingly it doesnt really suffer from the cooldown effect, plastic parts I assume).

Normally I use the M9 but its the old piece of sh1te G7(MP7) tommorow:p Hope I dont need it. Do you have any springers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,551 ✭✭✭swiftblade

Nope apart from a shotty  And im not caring around an AEG with me ;) Guess i could keep the mags in my pocket to keep them warm. Would it work?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Leftyflip

It should work fine if you keep it in your back pocket.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,551 ✭✭✭swiftblade

On a different topic, does anyone know what the weather is supposed to be like tomorow? :)

be careful of touching gas mags you have just used in cold weather it is easy to freeze skin to metal, seen it happen and not fun

also battery's will not last as long so as normal so pack an extra :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,551 ✭✭✭swiftblade

    *cries* so very painful.
Also don't lick the cylinder of a Thunder B which has just exploded...
I thought it would be fun:(:(

Full metal AEG no gloves no plinking for me.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 452 ✭✭Phractal

*sigh* I feel jealous of you guys... Just wrap up warm and protect those ears - I imagine a BB to the ear on a cold day is GODAWFUL painful. I have to attend a funeral.

AS for the gas, you know them 'instant heat' packs for treating sprains or whatever? Pop one of them in with the mags and you will be grand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,511 ✭✭✭Damo 2k9

Holy sh1t a bb into the ear would be some pain alright, i was messing with my GBB the other day out my back and i was letting the gas out of the mag and i dunno what happened but the mag nearly stuck to my thumb :P
Indoor should be fine tho shouldnt it ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Leftyflip

WE 1911's with their slides made of cement are worst.

    *cough*WE*cough*
    That's the problem.

    Well Define this weather?

I had a TM p226 running green venting after one shot, and a KSC m9 vent so fast, the surrounding snow froze to the slide, turning it rather... brittle for a while. In around minus 8 degrees centigrade, and two foot of snow, however, Co2 seemed to work just grand... that, and AEP's too. Although with AEGs you may want to consider this... Battery life is reduced in extreme cold too... noit just gas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,551 ✭✭✭swiftblade

Well my days skirmishing is over and i never fired one shot from my pistol  But it was so so so cold. I still cant feel my fingers

If this is what winter is like i cant even thing of how hot summer is gonna get.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,778 ✭✭✭Sod'o swords

Using a wilson combat 1911, got two shots out of one mag, and none out of the other.

    Don't even bother unless it's c02 tbh.

Kicked open a door today, then the bb peh'd out of my gun.
Got him, but in the most shamefull manor on my behalf.

Where as the thunder B grenades, they either work on time, or don't work...

Someone attempted to throw one up the stairs, failed, and i forgetting they are c02, thinking the fuse would delay with the cold, picked it up, and it blew up right in my hand, fun times.

    /me blinks innocently at O1s1n.

As for gas, I've found green is fine down to 0, possibly minus 1 or so, if the gun is properly lubricated. And if its metal, I advise gun grease, or pencil graphite on the slide runnders, seals siliconed up, and generally looked after... If you do, wont have much trouble at average Irish winter temperatures. I've used a KSC gbb at midnight in november before in the middle of nowhere (zombie game, dont ask) So I suspect its more maintenance issue, than others. As Sod said, C02 will work regardless, due to its lack of cooldown, to a point. Best just look after your gear.
