A 10 year old Micra ? Get a written quote first.
IF the quote exceeds the price of a replacement car
    then REPLACE THE CAR !!:D:D

It may be cheaper to repair the car, but the car would be safe
with a new axle so long as in the act of breaking the axle
the chassis was not twisted too...

If the chassis is twisted it's totally feecckked. RIP

    She's fubar op.
I wouldn't even dream of quoting a car for a rear axle of it's age.
Scrap her in with the scrappage deal if you can. If not scrap it yourself and then buy another 2nd hand motor.
As v300 said. If there's any damage to chassis its a definate walk-away

Forget it...even if you find a garage daft enough to attempt a replacement, it will never be the same again.

How in the name of God did you snap the rear axle?

I've driven a 96 Micra at 90mph plus down forest tracks regularly and never did any damage to the rear axle (the front cross-member didn't get away however)

In this weather, slipping slowly sideways into a tree or kerb
at 15mph will do the trick.

Off topic, but I wish I had an Auto Repair Shop
as they are going to CLEAN UP in the next few weeks
with all the Ice induced vehicle damage.

I would have thought the NCAP rating for an old micra would be in the minus figures.

Let the car go to the big scrap heap in the sky.

I've done that as well and only bent the wheel...

I imagine that the axle has moved shearing a mount off it, rather than snapping it like a twig

Still, I reckon it's time to dump the car
