Hi there. I got an iPod touch as a pressie for Christmas and just love it. However, I am having a problem accessing downloaded apps. The apps seem to download perfectly, but then when I try to go into them they won't open for me. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong. It@s really starting to frustrate me. Thankyou!

Thanks for the suggestion. What is the firmware and how do I update it? Sorry for sounding stupid, but this new to me! ;-)

just plug it into iTunes and it will tell you if your iPod is up to date or not!

Hi, Thanks for that advice. My firmware is up to date, and i've tried deleting and re-downloading my apps but still no joy. Have even resorted to troubleshooting on apple .com. Still no solution found. Is this normal? Or am I just missing a trick. Thanks.

Can you give us exact details? Exactly how you are downloading, what the applications are, what happens when you click on them, and the Operating System version of the Ipod Touch.

    Hi,

Do they transfer to the Touch okay, but just not open there?

If so I have this same problem. It's because I recently changed the e-mail account associated with iTunes. Newer purchases will play, but ones from the older name will not.

I've tried everything. Waiting for Apple Customer Service to get back to me about it.

    Cheers

Hi Tom. I am downloading the apps directly onto my iPod touch, which seems to work perfect. However, when I try to open the app it won't open. I've tried deleting and reloading but to no avail! Most of the apps that I have tried are the free ones (I don't know if that matters). One app that had successfully downloaded and worked perfectly was lotto.ie this now won't work. The iPod is brand new and is os 3, my iTunes is version 9. Thanks for your concern, really appreciate it!

They way you describe the problem sounds exactly like mine. Trouble is I can't remember changing my password, however I may well have done this when I was trying to set it up. I would really appreciate if you would let me know what apple's solution is.
    Many thanks...

Will do. There are a few us with this problem but contacting Apple isn't easy.

I've talked to a guy who says that the content which won't work on his new Touch is okay on his older 2nd Generation one.

Do you know anyone with an older Touch who can confirm that?

Hi. I am still having problems with my new iPod touch. I have no trouble downloading apps but the won't open when downloaded. I have checked the firmware and iTunes version and both are up to date. I have restored the settings and this did not work and now I cannot access apps that were working beforehand! I have just run a diagnostic test and one test failed - it tells me that a secure connection to iTunes store was unsuccessful. Can anyone tell me what this means or how I might rectify it? So distraught! Cheers....

are the apps you downloaded require an internet connection?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15 Junge_Frau_2009

It is a mixture. Some do, like lotto.ie and some don't i.e. Shrek kart. However none of my apps will open now. I have reinstalled iTunes, and re-run a diagnostic. This has fixed the secure connection problem, but my initial problem is still the same. I have logged a call with apple and should hopefully hear back within 48 hrs. I feel like i've tried everything and nothing has worked.

Hi, to anyone that has had the misfortune to experience the same problem with their iPod touch as I have had, here is the solution that worked for me!
Here's what I found on another post and it worked for me:

    1. delete apps from ipod
    2. delete apps from iTunes
    3. Unauthorize you PC in iTunes (dropdown menu)
    4. Reauthorize your PC in iTunes (also from dropdown menu)
    5. Download apps through iTunes
    6. Sync ipod

    This worked for me.

Cheers to everyone for the help!

    hi
    Are you syncing your downloads???
When your download is complete, click on your itouch device tab, you can locate this under the istore.
Click on the black icon, a menu comesup on the top you will see music, TV, films apps etc. if eg it's music your downloading click on this then look at the bottom of your page, right hand side for the sync button click on this and the job is done If you look at your Itouch you will see sync in progress once this is done your OK
I should have mentioned it is important that you are in itunes when you do this . If you haven't done so download itunes 9 to your computer
remember everything has to be synced before you can load it on to itouch.
    good luck,
    kate.:)
