A new one for me. Doesn't give to much info unless you signed up an account.
Looks like a site for guitar players to exchange knowledge, info and pics etc.

Could be a load of B*ll*x too though.

They didn't really think through the site's name.

    Hi Guys

I'm one of the founders of dbTwang, thanks for the interest in our site. It's early days for us as we only went live a couple of weeks ago so any feedback you have on it either here or left on our own feedback system is greatly appreciated.

As there seems to be some question as to what we are about: I've been collecting for many years and so the idea for dbTwang comes from trying to find a site where I could confidentially store info on my guitars in detail, that then evolved to into putting together a database that could be used to protect my guitars if they were ever stolen and as web based social media took off the idea further developed to encompass having a bit of fun at the same time by adding the choice to share, follow and comment on others guitars.

In the future we may well have premium services that will be subscription based but definitely everything that you can do now on dbTwang will always be free.

cheers for the mention as well (I am the other co-founder).

dbTwang is made up of Twang - commonly associated with guitars and db - which mostly stands for database. As we are primarily a database of guitars it worked for us ;)

Subscription will be a killer though. Unless it's going for buttons.
Might be a good idea, if we could ineract etc. and even upload our own homemade videos of lessons, repair and setup, tips and some other catagories too. A good guitar forum with plenty of sub catagories would be good to use.

The balance between free and paid is always tricky darrenw5094 - you are right. However neither of us want a site with adverts - therefore the revenue has to come from somewhere else otherwise it is a hobby and not a business.

As Fintan said joining and uploading details of your guitars will always be free - as will leaving comments on other peoples instruments.
We will be introducing the first two paid for services in Q1 this year - however they will be at the discretion of users as will all paid for versions of anything we do.

So subscription being a killer does not have to be.

    The wish-list contains a forum :)
