How to talk to my ex?

    Hey boardsie's.

    Myself and my ex mutually broke up over 6 months ago. We both went abroad to different countries for 5 months but now we are both home for christmas.During that period I had several rebounds and been with other women. even some I quite liked. However I do feel something for my ex. we talked maybe 3/4 times during these months and she even sent me a text on christmas wishing me a good one and hoping I had a safe trip home.
    I know herself will be at a mates birthday this week. I'll probably be talking to her (Akwardly most likely). I know it wont be the best time to talk about us, but how can I suggest to her that I think we might still have something, without falling flat on my face?
    sounds stupid I know but anyone who has been in similar situations or has any advice, I would love to hear from you.
