pcie accel work with pci core card

    hi was wondering if a newer pcie accel card would work as normal with this kind of set up.A pcie pc with an expansion box that converts pcie to pci.Inside the expansion box Iv a pci hd core card

    You need to be a lot more specific. I presume your talking about protools on a PC
    If so post your exact system specs here. Computer/OS/PT version/Exp chassis

    So technically it will work, but it will run at PCI speed which is slower than PCIe (the e stands for express!).

    It really depends on if it's worth the money or not, how much cheaper than a cross grade would it be?

    I seem to remember reading in one of the recent PT updates that the software no longer supports an external chassis ? But I could we be incorrect there ...
