    Hiya
myself and my partner are hoping to get away for the 29th and 30th this week....somewhere rustic away from dublin thats all about relaxing and forgetting the world... price is the main concern but also a nice bath would be great...our budget is 200 for the two days... ive seen a lot of good deals of 2 nights B+B plus one dinner for 89euro per person in city hotels but i don't know if the hotels are any use...
also we're quite "earthy" so we'd like to avoid a total fancy glitz fest

    Any ideas anyone???? THanks :-)

The flynn hotel group are running a 2night b&b & 1 dinner for 109per person (sorry slightly over budget) http://www.flynnhotels.com/

I have only ever stayed in their Kilkenny and Cork hotels and they are nice.

Alternatively try hotels.com for somewhere like Killarney or if you want totally off the beaten track Springfort Hall near Mallow in Co. Cork is a beautiful country house but driving distance from everywhere

    Hi nadeshad,

I live in galway, and used to work in the hotel game, so I know hotels around here pretty well, from what you say, your looking for some old world traditional charm cheap,

    I have 2 suggestions,

1: The twelve, bearna galway, out in conemara, in small rustic bearna village, few pubs around, stroll down the pier , head up the road to white strand beach. And bearna is only 10 minutes drive from galway, with the new motorway open, you could be here in 3 hours. Hotel is a mix of old fashioned and contemporary, rooms have a distinct scandinavian feel, but food in the bar is fab, pizzas and racks of lamb, not to mention fresh bread from the in house bakery...now its a bit pricey at about 260eur for the dates you said, but i would recommend it.

2: the merriman, kinvarra , galway. Now i have never stayed here but i have eaten here a few times and a few pints in front of the fire. Main attraction here is, your on the burrens doorstep, local pubs, and great food all around. The restaurant serves suprisingly artistic and great tasting food, the pub has mighty burgers and stews. And all the old boys chatting about the weather and that gobsheen cowen. Head down the pier, to the pier house to have dinner upstairs looking out onto the bay, and kinvara castle lit at night. ITs a good hearty place, and current price is 120eur on booking.com for 2 nights with a big fry up... jeez might go myself :-)

    hope this helps

    k
