why, oh why, when you want to access something (eg webcourses, email or in my current case, webtimetables) is it always malfunctioning. I just love how they're so incapeable of keeping anything running smoothly, consistantly.

There's an issue with java security and webcourses. Could be the cause of it.

why would webcourses interfere with webtimetables? Besides, it's very unprofessional and webtimetables always ceases to function just when people might be thinking "Oh, I should check what my timetable next semester looks like". I used to be in trinity. They never seemed to have those problems. If DIT really wants to impress, it needs to get its act together and start behaving more like a decent college than a community centre.

Why does it need to be interactive anyway? Surely some pdfs on the main website for each semester would be fine? The current "toy-like" technology is just overkill and not even usable as a real timetable anyway. Way too fiddly.

If DIT had a clue they would evaluate other potentially free solutions that perform the same functions with less maintenance
to boot. Someone at the top is being swayed by terms like "Enterprise" "Managed" "Java" and the like. Direct blame to the top.
The whole point of the world wide web is to abstract the particular OS/hardware away from the actual experience.

Why should webcourses give a damn if you are running Windows 7, or a SPARC running Solaris? It's beyond stupid tbh.
