Washing machine after the freeze

I woke up this morning and there water everywhere. During the freeze the washing machine would not work ( I know nothing about washing machines or how to work them) so herself left the door open and when the thaw came we awoke to find water flowing out of the front of the machine and nothing I do will stop it. Lucky enough I had a valve fitted to the water intake when it was first put in so I can switch off the water. If I switch on the water and close the door it will keep filling so I stop and letthe water out the filter. Its like there is some kind of valve somewhere that is not working. It is an Aquarius WF101 1000spin washing machine. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
    Regards

sounds like the inlet valve on the machine is seized in the open position.it will need a new valve.is it under warranty?

It is not under warranty, unfortunately but I have a plumber coming over today to look at my oil burner and will have him take a look at it. I very much appreciate your help anyway. Happy new year to you and yours.
    Kind regards.

The [lumber came and we both had a butchers at it as he did not know much about washing machines. We took off the Water inlet valve and could see that one of the chambers had been pushed out by the water when it froze. We replaced it and put everything back together and bobs yer monkey, everythings A1. I would like to thank you for taking the time to advise me, it is very much appreciated. I knew boards.ie would have the answer.
    Kind regards.

Delighted the problem is sorted. This is actually more common then you would imagine.

The advice of manufacturers is to leave the door closed on the machine but who does, What usually happens is in areas of heaby scale the lime builds up around the water inlet valve meaning it cannot shut off and stop the water coming in.

I can only imaging what the call out fee for a hotpoint man would be.

I know I am being cheeky but may I ask another question please? My tritont90 is dribbling, can you suggest anything? The plumber did not know about showers either, just my luck.
    Kind regards.

Yes but not to sure if your confident. With the shower turned off and the power turned off take the cover off and turn the splined dial under the front dial back to close. It sounds like the dial and front dial has slipped slightly.

If I am not making sense just ask again

Yes agree it could be that as well but this is the first thing I would try. Its easy enough if your confident.

I have never replaced the solenoid valve. I useually leave that to an engineer although I imagine if its triton it should be easy enough.

Thanks for all the advice lads. I am lucky enough to have an old triton that I kept just for this purpose, to see if I could do something if it needed to be done. Please have a look at this diagram
splined dial under the front dial http://showerdoc.co.uk/shower-spares/triton/t90i.html
and let me know where the solenoid valve is and where the 'splined dial under the front dial' is. Sorry for all the questions but you guys are real gold dust. If I decide to replace the valve how do I shut off the water while I am doing it? or does the water only flow when the pump is on?
    Kind regards.

With the t90's generally it you unscrew the front inside part out of the

inlet filter with either youre finger and thumb or a pair of pliers

(VERY GENTLY:)) There is an spring loaded plunger

    That should stop water flowing.

Make sure the powers off first!

The 230v boogie is NOT a good look:P

Wings, you are a gentleman, I will try it later.
    I really appreciate you help.

I did as you said, took off the cover, opened the valve and took it out and a small bit of water came out, the plunger in the back of it works and the leak stopped until I put the thing I took out back in again carefully. I could hear bubbling and leak is the same. Maybe its time to replace the whole thing. Any suggestion you make would be very much appreciated.
    Kind regards.
