    Me too, but to be more specific:
    - Hoping not to spend any more than E400;
    - Good value is important; I have no interest in forking out for the newest and coolest Dell with red cover, or Sony Vaio;
    - I use it for general home use - internet, music/photos, Office apps, def not gaming though;
    - Mobility is not important, i.e. a "standard" size is fine;
    - Am using WinXP, and not sure if I should jump to Win7 or even Vista.

    I have had two Dell's and like the idea of supporting the brand with a
    presence in Ireland, but if there is a better (value) product out there, I would consider it. Wouldn't you!

    Have heard a lot of noise about the Samsung N130, and HP seems to have a big presence in PC World. What do you think - should I still with Dell (online or retail) or look elsewhere?

    Ive helped two mates get dell vostro laptops in the past year. I highly recommend them over inspirons. Build quality is imo far superior.

    Do all current Dells have the high gloss screens?
    I notice this on lots of new laptops and I really dont like it!! Messes up visibility if you ask me.

    I'm thinking of getting a new laptop and I'm currently looking at a few models without a CD/DVD drive. Anybody else make the same decision and regret it?

    Thanks
