So I have 236 minutes to spare tomorrow, so thinking of hitting this up in the IFI. Good reviews and an intriguing synopsis ("The Virgin Mary, upskirt photography, cross-dressing, cult religion and martial arts") seems like it might be worth the heavy time commitment (I'm pretty sure it is the longest single film I've considered watching).

    Anyone seen it yet?

Have the DVD waiting to be watched here, just trying to find 4 hours which I can dedicate fully to the film.

Well went to see this today - fairly mad and huge scope, but surprisingly most of the ideas hit the mark. The main thematic focus is very interesting - how religion and (deviant) sexuality / love find it difficult to co-exist in harmony. I need to read up on it more to get a grasp of it, but I loved some of the ideas suggested - a character who starts committing sin in order to please his (priest) father, a cult that tricks people into committing acts of 'immorality' and then makes them absolve for it, and the inherent contradictions of faith (how can someone love as they are meant to when they are constantly punished for it?). Some small parts do drag given the extended running time, but they are few, and for the most part the manga-esque tone is consistently lively and energetic. Luckily the focus is on four or five very interesting main characters, and this keeps the film grounded. Very hard film to analyse and dismantle given the huge amount of content, but worth the time investment for sure.

Plus, you've got to love an
    upskirt photography training montage :D
