Kick is triggering multiple samples

Hi folks... went out to studio today & this started to happen... when I play the kick, it triggers not only the kick, but also the snare/hats/crashes too... seems to be triggering each of them in sequence. I'm using a TD12 triggering Superior Drummer 2 in Pro Tools LE on an iMac.

Any ideas what's causing this? See sig for my set up - any help greatly appreciated - thanks!

    could be

1/ your td12 trigger settings may have changed .

usually this happens when you are adjusting the trigger settings for say the kick , but if another drum triggers or you hit another ( without locking the trigger while changing it ) it can alter any trigger that fired while you were altering the kick = and leave the trigger settings too sensitive on a whole range of drums that got altered .

go through each trigger / drum and check the sensitvity and threshold of each one - some drums like snare and kik need larger numbers then toms etc.

can also happen if a trigger cable is loose in any drum or at the model - or an used trigger cable connected at the model but not at the drum

2/ need to relearn the triggers in SD2 - maybe you loaded a default kit profile in SD2 - ive seen it happen - i usually customise each set up then save it as a user preset and load it each time fresh .

On the TD12 I think its the xtalk between the triggers.

The TD12 will automatically pick the hardest hit drum and allow that to sound as it thinks thats the one you want to hear, so if you hit floor and snare together it has to be spot on or one will out do the other.

just check the xtalk on all drums and try again its gonna be a fault finding mission with that brain.

    hope you got this sorted.

Try hitting it, usually sorts it out for me.

I found out what happened... wasn't too complicated after all. Seems like one of my kids may have changed the settings on the TD12 - it was in the "Jam" setting (where hitting the cymbals starts a bass guitarriff/synths). Since I don't use the Roland sounds, I only spotted it just now.

All sorted... moral of the story... keep your kids out of the studio!

You wouldn't want that to turn on when playing live

Similar thing happened to me about 10 ddays ago. I let my 7 yr old have a bash on my Trapkat and, unusually for me, left her at it on her own for a minute. Came back and all the triggers wer no longer working! Thought she had seriously knackered the thing. After 15-20 minutes of trying everything, turns out she had somehow managed to tread on one of the settings controller pedals whilst hitting the appropriate pad that controls max velocity. She had set max velocity to zero hence no signals to Superior. My, was I relieved (and so was she when she saw through the tears that daddy's drum thing was ok). Bless!
