    Hi Guys,
Got a voucher off the other half for great outdoors and I see they stock Meindl boots. Going to get a pair and I was wondering if anyone had any experience of them and what types you would recommend.

Thanks and Happy Xmas to All

hi Bibio, I have a pair of Meindl Army Pro's for five years now and they're still going strong, the leather is very hard and they take a while to break in but they are a great boot.

Meindl stockists can return the boots to the factory to be resoled if ever needed, mine have little sign of wear yet!

Because the soles are so hardwearing, I do find them a bit slippery on wet rocks, but it would'nt put me off a second pair.

My only gripe would be about the insole, personally I think they are shocking, I replaced mine with a pair of Sorbothane dual strike insoles and can't say enough about them, its like wearing a pair of runners!

If and when I go for another pair of Meindls, I'll get a pair of these http://www.cadetdirect.com/order1.php?pg=1554
although I tried my local Meindl stockist and they say they never heard of them:rolleyes:

If you do go for a pair of Meindls, get the Meindl wax and spray for keeping the goretex in good shape!

Hope this helps and good luck with your purchase!

    Bibio
Try them on with HEAVY socks. They are tough boots and will not stretch as lighter boots are prone to do.
Great boot BTW but if you have a wider foot you may want to look at others.

    Good Luck & Seasons Greetings.

    Thanks for the info guys,

I went into great outdoors and had my heart set on a pair of Vakuum's or Borneo's but I could not get a good fit as the boots were quite tight in width. I bought a pir of Matrei GTX's, but don't like them as much as the other ones. Store assistant insisted they would wear as well, and were as tough as the other's. They are Nubuck though and look a bit more like everyday boots to me, also they are rated for A/B rather than B or B/C.
I might go back in and try the Vakuum's again.
Has anyone any experience of the Mendls being really tight on width before being broken in, or any thoughts on my dilemma, or indeed any experience of the Matrei.
    Thanks

    Bibio.

Hey bibio,i would not be afraid of a little tightness, within reason,on width, they will take a fair bit of time to soften and round out IMHO
