safest web browser

Bare in mind I've just made the switch from xp to win 7, I was wondering what is the safest browser to use, IE was full of holes back in the day and mozilla's firefox emerged as the new hope! But I'm finding that mozilla is slipping more and more. Or prehaps it is just the cost of popularity that the browser is increasingly gaining explots and now seems on a level pegging with IE.
I have tried google chrome and all started well and good but after a while it felt clogged and bloated. I will admit I have not tried safari, basicly because my friend is a total mac fanboy and even he uses mozilla.
So what is the safest browser on the market? Is there one or is it more about avoiding certain sites or the security software you have installed in your machine?

Have you taken a look at running your browser in a sandbox using something like Sandboxie?

I've been using Chrome for a few months and I like it, used to use nothing but firefox but I sick to the teeth of waiting for it to launch, it takes about a month and a half. Theres no perfect browser, just stay away from IE, watch where your going and get some good internet security software and you'll be grand.

To be honest, I would use a good security software and Mozilla Firefox. I have a bad feeling when I hear the word 'Google', there a huge website/company and it would be nice to help the websites that arnt in the top-ten, so no Google chrome.:D

Security will always be an issue on a network, to put in an analogy such as the most secure house would be one without windows or doors, though that isn't always practical.

When I use a windows machine (which I presume you are also), I use Avast Anti-Virus which is free and I also use Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium (which I pay) which alerts you to any site containing any rouge code which you may click on. Also an application layer firewall such as Zone Alarm or Comodo which are free, which allows you to observe what applications are calling home.

Generally it takes a combination off selected tools operating alongside your browser and a certain amount off vigilance when browsing on the net which should ensure that you have a secure expirence, though as the analagy above states, there will always be places where exploits may occur.

firefox is good, but there is also exploits out there for it.
what i do is use firefox but have a user agent switcher so when i visit websites they think im using IE and the wrong exploit would be used on me :D
