    Looking to get a 2005 Volvo S40 fully serviced and 4 new tyres up North, preferably near a shopping hub (Newry, Belfast etc). Any advice, experience or recommendations on reputable, well established & good value garages up North?

    Why not buy the tyres, buy the service items, do your shopping and then service it yourself?

    Don't have the time or expertise. Mainly the time.

    You might want to get separate quotes for the tyres and servicing, dealers tend to charge well over the odds for tyres in any jurisdiction. Afraid I can't help with your specific question, though.

    I got 3 new tyres a year or two ago from Phillip White Tyres in Armagh (the front two and spare needed replacing). I think they cost me about £120 sterling in total. You basically go in and choose the tyre you want and they fit them there and then, no appointment needed. Armagh city is about a 30 min drive from Newry, straight road the whole way pretty much.

    Not sure about garages. I bought my 2nd hand car from Jim Keeley Motors on the Monaghan Road in Armagh as well. They sell and service cars there. I've never got a service done there myself really so I don't know what they're like for that.

    My parents always go to Shelbourne motors on the Tandragee Road near Portadown to get their car serviced. Although that's where they bought it and the new car is probably still under warranty. I forget how much their service cost, I think it was between £100 and £150 sterling.

    Thanks grandmaster. Re the tyres part; I got an online quote from kwik-fit.com who have branches near Newry and Belfast as follows:

    4x Firestone TZ300 205/55H16 (£57.40 each): £229.60
    4x Standard Valve & Balance (£9.00 each): £36.00
    4x Tyre Disposal (£1.50 each): £6.00
    Wheel Alignment/Tracking: £24.50
    Total = £296.10 (or €328)

    Anybody think this is a good deal from experience? Or if Firestone are any good vs Dunlop or Pirelli (each about £10 more per tyre than the Firestones). I know I could buy the tyres from camskill.co.uk for a similar price per tyre and get them fitted for about €15/20 per corner down South but it would end up around the same price & wouldn't include alignment.Will be getting more quotes on Monday anyway...
