"Push and YouTube issues are caused by hacktivation. To fix, add http://cydia.iphoneil.net/ as a source and install "Push Fix""
taken from geohot blog. Not sure if it's your problem though!

Do not, I repeat... Do not use "push fix".

It has been reported that your mail can be pushed to others , and vice versa.

    Are u trying over wifi?

anyone have any fixes for this?

youtube and my push gmail aren't working, but every other app i have that uses push notifications like beejive (IM app) sends push notifications.

used pwnagetool to jailbreak my iphone 3g s (bought on launch day in america).

    Hey!

This is NOT an issue with your apple device.... This is a problem with Vodafone servers. You will experience problems with certain web sites, youtube app and push services. This applies to non jailbroken and jail broken devices.

This problem exists on the cellular 3G vodafone network and also while accessing wifi that is connected to vodafone bit stream home broadband services.

It also effects ipod touch when using wifi (on vodafone dsl).

When the device is connected to a non vodafone broadband service such as eircom the problems do not exist.

I have no idea why this is happening but I presume if enough people complain to vodafone about it they may sort it out!

Why would i complain to vodafone?

    i'm on meteor.

    i'm on meteor.

If you're on meteor then the above is obviously not causing your problems. I was pointing out a problem that is currently effecting iphone users on the vodafone network.

Just a bit odd that you come in mentioning vodafone considering no one here has had even mentioned what network they were on.

My apologies if it was odd. The problems mentioned in the thread are identical to the problems associated with the vodafone issue that many have been experiencing. It might have made more sense to check what network first instead of presuming but I would be fairly confident that some of the other posters on this thread who have been experiencing these problems in the last week or so are on vodafone and if they are my posting might save them the hassle of restoring firmware and re-jailbreaking.

    hi,

i tried this over wifi and still got the same error "cannot connect to youtube" its so frustrating. i tried the pushfix 2.0 and it didnt work either.

is push fix only a problem when using 3g. I don't use 3g at all on my iphone; only wifi. Should I still not use the push fix?

I'm on a non-jailbroken O2 3GS, YouTube works fine on a 3G connection (o2), but not at all on Wifi at home (Vodafone). I thought it was just my new phone.

I'd say it's the same problem as in the thread 'server can not connect to many sites' the lads there have put it down to a vodafone dsl dns problem and have a fix. Give it a try. It's a couple of threads down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,359 ✭✭✭jon1981

you cant change the DNS settings for the 3g connection can you?

this is strange, i managed to get it work on meteor but not Vodafone... so kinda lost now ... is it the OS of the Phone or the operator.
