Depends what you look for in a racing title.

Burnout Paradise is held in high regard and is one of the few cross-platform titles that's best on the PS3.

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, WipEout HD and Grid are good and each scratches a different racing itch.

need for speed shift is alright. then theres GT5 prologue..

GT5 itself will be out this summer, should be very good.

On PC, when driving with automatic gear shifting, the lag before 'reverse' kicks in is a deal breaker for me. The game doesn't include the (imho, inspired) 'rewind time' feature, so making it unusually difficult to recover from a spin is especially unforgivable.

    Burnout Paradise
    Moterstorm Pacific Rift
    Wipeout HD

Although Forza 3 wipes the floor with all these.

F1 Championship edition is out but it's from the 06 or 07 season, a new one is due in 2010 to coincide with the new season.

Hands down, GT5 Prologue. The physics of GT5P Spec III and Forza 3 are quite similair but it really depends on what kind of racing game you're looking for. If you're looking for a simulator, its pretty much the only proper racing simulator on the PS3 but if you're looking for a fun racing game with a wide variety of cars and racing disciplines, I would have to say Race Driver GRID.

I think Racer Driver - Grid is a really great Racing game with great crashes. I hate Race games where you can't damage the car. :p

Depends if you want Standard track racing or mad arcade racing

    Track games in this order

    Supercar challenge
    Grid
    Gt 5 prologue

    Arcade racers

    Wipeout HD
    Burnout paradise
    motorstorm 1 & 2

I don't own any driving games but Need for speed shift has caught my eye,the cockpit view looks savage but no one here has mentioned it.I think i would be more into an arcade style game than realism which is another reason i think i might like it.Thoughts anyone?

I enjoyed Colin McRee Dirt 2 Demo - Of the two tracks in the demo, Morocco stage on loose sand/dust was great fun (and frustrating, it's like driving on ice, hard to control the car).

I haven't played any of the other titles mentioned here, except for GT5 time trial, which was very hard, and I would imagine would appeal more to the James May's out there (who knows everything technical about all cars). :)

PS: I've tried Ridge Racer 7 - just don't bother!
