After the attempted ride this morning, I've determined my long finger gloves aren't cutting it anymore. What do the rest of you wear to stay warm in weather like this, or even the other nice with the freezing rain?

I got the pear izumi cyclone glove about a month ago . I find them to be very good at keeping out the cold and rain . I wear them with a glove liner underneath does the job for me . Have to admit it did take me a few weeks to get used to the gel padding but aftter that I find them good . Got them in my LBS for 35 euro .

I second the glove liners. Got a pair of woolen ones last winter and didn't think much of them but they're bliss.
Over: either simple fleece gloves in dry weather, otherwise some Shimano water and wind proof gloves (forgot the type) or for really cold weather Everest Extremes. Haven't had any problems so far, I even felt I had quite a few reserves at -15 last week. Basically my bicycle glove usage converges to those I use for more ambiguous cross country skiing trips.

+1 for liners. I have a thin pair of fleece gloves from tescos that work great under heavier ones. 2 euros. I am not a scrooge-I just always lose gloves so I buy the cheapest.
Keep your head warm as well.If your brain starts to get gold your body withdraws blood supply from hands and feet, making them feel cold. A windproof skull cap helps to keep your hands warm.

I got these last year, still use them obviously, very good. No cold fingers.

Thanks guys. Got a skullcap to try next time its cold and ordering some liners to try inside my current gloves. If that doesn't work I'll just break out the old ski gloves.
However today was a good 10C warmer than yesterday so lets hope it doesn't get cold anymore.

don't know what you call them , but I used to like a cross between fingerless gloves and mittens.

Like having fingerless gloves with a sock on them , you could pop your fingers out through a slit in the sock to handle thinks and back in again to keep them warm, only problem was that like any mittens your thumb gets cold

I got pearl izumi lobsters yesterday. excellent so far, although I've not worn them outside yet. Only problem I can see with them is that motorists won't be able to tell if you're telling them "1" or "2" :)
