Being Accused Of Stealing

    Right I'm a 15 year old guy,

I went into Mace at the Ballaly luas stop with two friends the other day as it was freezing and I was waiting for a friend who was coming down from Ranelagh. So we were standing around, not loitering, just looking to buy a drink. There were none so we turned to leave, as you do. We were in there for no more than 2 minutes and as we were walking out the door, the lady at the desk starts shouting at us telling us not to leave as she felt we had robbed something. She made us stand in the middle of the shop not knowing what to do. She eventually let us go. She didn't search us but said she was going to check the cameras.

So earlier I passed it on the Luas and told my Dad what had happened and he told me I should have asked for the manager, got witnesses and I could have made a scene about being wrongly accused. He told me it happened to him in Superquinn a few years back and he got €1000 out of it.

So I was wondering what the deal actually is with being wrongly accused of stealing and if anyone has any experiences themselves.

It's a serious allegation, you're best seeking the advice of a solicitor as soon as possible after the Xmas break.

And don't communicate any further with the said store.
