i know i sound like such a baby, but, does anyone know if you can get a doctor or nurse to pierce your ears for you??? i have a needle phobia (and genuinely hope no professional piercers take offence) and that is the only way id get it done (with a needle not a gun in a surgery).
    im such a wimp!!!
    best wishes,

I'd say you'll have a hard time finding a Doctor to do it and they'll probably charge you there regular fee which for my local Doctor is €50. If you have needle phobia does it not make more sense to trust your ears to someone who probably does at least one lobe piercing a day everyday (i.e. a professional piercer) over someone who's probably never done it before (i.e. a doctor)?

No, probably not. Just go to a professional as they are fully trained in piercing and meet nervous clients every day of the week. Have a chat with the piercer beforehand and they will put your mind at ease. Just remember that they've done 1000000's of piercings as opposed to a doctor who's probably done none.

You don't sound like a baby. I am absolutely TERRIFIED of needles, but the guys in Snakebite have done most of my piercings and they are great, completely know the right things to say, have absolutely no problem with me fainting repeatedly and having panic attacks etc. A doctor has presumably never pierced anyone's ears in their life, whereas piercers pierce people all the time, as has been said above. If you are in Dublin, go to Snakebite, they are AMAZING. I find it much easier to get pierced by them than to get blood taken by my GP.

Make sure you eat well before you get pierced and tell the piercer you have issues with needles. You will be just fine! Good luck!

Is it just the gun you're afraid of? Most professional piercers (i.e. not Claire's Accessories!) will use a properly sterilised needle, not a gun.

There's no way I'd trust a doctor or nurse to do something like that! They're not trained in it, apart from else they could do it completely in the wrong position etc. I doubt you'd get one to agree to do it anyways, I mean it's not a medical procedure.

If I were you, I'd leave it to the specialists or not get it done at all.

You will be grand going into a piercer, seriously. If I can get piercings and tattoo's then anyone can. The people in the shops might be covered in tattoos and piercings but they are genuinely nice people. Lots of people (im not saying you are one) tend to see people with tattoos and piercings and just presume they are scary and not very professional, you will be surprised. Most piercings dont hurt anyways. Best of luck.
