Toshiba overheating and shutting down

I got a Toshiba A200 laptop 15 months ago. It was working fine up until a few weeks ago, when it started to turn itself off (straight away, not shutting down properly) seemingly randomly. I started to notice that it seemed to be while using something involving graphics, even something as simple as Doom! I did a bit of scouting around online and it seems to be an overheating problem with the fan, possibly caused by a build up of dust. I called into my local pc repair place, and he said they've had a lot of problems with Toshiba laptops having this problem. Unfortunately, my warranty with Toshiba only lasted a year. I've tried using a cooling pad, but it doesn't seem to be having much effect.

Has anyone had any experience with this, or know a possible solution for it?

    Cheers!

Take your hoover and the small adapter for the end and hold it to all the vents on the machine, leave it on each bit for at least 10 secs to get the most out. This will clean some dust out, if this fails then you should pop the casing and use a small soft bristled brush to remove all the dust manually.

Its common with many laptops, my dell for instance builds up dust as the exaust vents are along the keyboard an I use it with the lid closed most of the time:p I usually dust my machines down ever 3 months or so, only takes 5 mins.

Bought a cooling pad and it's still happening... Balls! Apparently Toshiba's are very difficult to take apart so I'm a bit wary of doing that.

I use a Toshiba Satellite and have the same problem, I didn't resolve it but just worked around it ...
I have 2 used aa batteries lying flat under the front "legs", raising the front by about 1cm. It's enough to let more air under the machine and, since I started doing that it hasn't been as hot underneath, and hasn't crashed once.
