Tinryland ac (2 miles from carlow just off the m9) run their annual Stephens day handicap at 11am on Sat 26th Dec. Its a 4 mile run where people predict their times, and on that basis are let off at intervals. No watches are allowed so people who finish nearest their predicted time win. Its a fun aspect and usually about 80 people show up from walkers to runners with an entry fee of 10 euro with all proceeds going to St Vincent De Paul. Prizes are given out to nearly all finishers ranging from wine, books cakes and tins of biscuits. So if you are in or around the carlow area come and run off some of that xmas excess in Tinryland, entries will be taken from 10.30 in the local hall (bring a spot prize if you can)

many thanks to the 80 hardy souls who turned up for our stephens day run, fortunately we were able to host the event on our cross country course due to all the ice on the roads. Like all other races it was impossible to run on the roads but we decided not to cancel and run the event on the country. we ran the race over 3 miles and at staggered intervals let off individuals, it was interesting to watch people who never ran cross country before and all enjoyed and raised nearly 850 euro for st vincent de paul. many thanks to all participants who braved the elements and for the organisers who made a brave decision to run this event on the country at the last moment:rolleyes:

+ 1, lovely race and great to see that many people out running on a cold Stephen's Day - very well done to the organisers, certainly not an easy one to organise so big well done to you all and great to see a lot of money raised for a very deserving cause...see you next year, same time same place!:D
