Had to tell someone. Finally finished my book and got to write "The End" at the bottom, so now I can relax and enjoy Christmas.

My children have told me that I am not to even think about book 3 until they are back at school. What will I do with myself all day?

Well you could maybe start just the prologue, under the guise of "editing", or go for a "it's not a trilogy, it's really just one big book" approach, and you'd get away with it on a technicality.

Don't even think about it, they'd kill me.

Anyway, book two took up pretty much where book one ended. I reckon book three will start a couple of years later. And I have no idea of plot yet. Except that there will be family fights, and some hot guys, and a really psycho mother.....

Well done! I envy your drive.

Put it away for a month. Don't look at it, not even once. Completely forget about it and come back with fresh eyes.

I'm trying. Just not sure what to do with myself now that I don't have a whole bunch of characters to worry about.

How long did it take overall? Is your first book published?

    Well done!

I think each book took about four months or so. First book now badly needs editing and rewrites before I submit it, but I got a Writer's Handbook for Christmas, so I have no excuse for putting it off.

How many words do your book total?

I just finished one that's around 250k so am in the process of a rewrite because no publisher would look at one that long.

Toyed with the idea of splitting it into two books, but don't think that's feasible.

Well done Eileen :) Such a great feeling to type THE END.
And then realise it's only the beginning...

If you're stuck or something to do, Livvie needs an editor ;)

Wow, my first is 45k and the second is about 60k. They'll probably expand a bit on rewrites, as I tend to be good with action and lazy with description, so I'll have to fix that as I work.

It's never a good idea to send a complete book to a publisher to begin with - a one page summary will do.

Well we've applied to a literary society and if accepted, our work will be read by a published author. I'm not sure yet if we have to send them the complete work or not.

And if we do, I suppose it would have to be a hard copy, as reading from the screen isn't comfortable.
