Watched an early edition of Friends on E4. The one were Phoebe gets fired.

    The scene:

Pheobe massaging a half naked man. (In her job, just to make that clear)

Guy: Wow that was a long hour.
Pheobe: Yeah in really long hour land.
    Guy: What?
Pheobe: Look I am sorry but I fancy you, but I can't go out with a client.
Guy: Well I can always get a new Massus
    Pheobe: Oh yeah

    The begin to kiss

    In walk Pheobe's boss

Boss: Sorry, pheobe but Mr. So and So has being waiting 3 hours
Mr. So and So: I was never offered that
Boss: Pheobe this isn't that kind of place.
Pheobe: Oh it's not what I looked like 'Guy' is my husband
Boss: Well tell Mrs. 'Guy' she has been calling all morning to see where he is.
    Pheobe: I will....

    So she gets fired.

The very final scene in the show has Phoebe go for a job interview where she tells the interviewer that she was fired from her last job because they thought she was a h*****r.

    Why deleted the word Hooker?

You could've shortened that down to "in the episode where Phoebe gets sacked for kissing a client..."

And I've seen worse editing than that in many shows before. Editing shows like that, tends to just draw more attention to the word/s that get censored though, in my opinion.

I just hate the way they do it.

Phoebe: They thought I was a h*exhale* (Then the laugh track is crudely cut to make it fit)

They do this all the time on Friends, Scrubs and the Simpsons on Channel 4, very annoying!

But does no one else think it strange that if you are censoring something that you would censor the more explicit stuff than just a word.

They should not censor it at all, I just thought it a bit odd the way in which they edited this show.

I was explaining the scene that was kept and the word that was deleted.

They edited loads of episodes of The OC.

Shame they didn't edit it so much that it didn't exist anymore ;)

Season 1 was ace!...adored it!, my all time fave episode is The Rainy Day Women - season 2, Rachel Bilson was/is adorable.

I find it scary that shows from network television in the United States need to be censored at all.

The UK really are a joke when it comes to this.

Scrub did a full circle and season 1 episode 1 was on a few days ago.

Usually at the 1-2pm slot it's edited so much that 50% of the gags make no sense at all, but on this run there seems to be no editing at all.

Usually they edit out x-rays of objects stuck up peoples backsides but not this time.

Yeah the friends censoring is very odd. I've seen episodes where instead of just bleeping or muting the word, they cut out the whole scene and replace it with a scene that played 10 seconds earlier. It completely ruins it.

This is a great example though of how censorship can actually make a scene more hilarious :D

    How times have(n't) changed...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I've noticed the editing on Friends episodes alright, but I thought they did it just to fit more ads in! They edit out things that aren't risque by any stretch of the imagination
