Just thinking about starting to cycle to college each morning. Got a bike in mind , route to take etc.

All I need to know is a good safe spot to keep my bike each day , preferable close to Kevin St.

In the place with all the rails specially for locking bikes to on the Kevin St. campus perhaps?

I've started cycling and the most secure place for nice bikes is actually Drury St. car park (the one closest to Kevin St., there's two on that street) who's first floor is dedicated to bikes and has full security watching it.

Only 2 mins walk from Kevin St. itself and none of the hassle of leaving your bike in a youth-infested bike-robbing student body :D

best decision you will ever make. I started cycling in october and it's great. Money saver, time saver and makes u feel better in the mornings. Where you cycling from??
Also, the place for bikes at Kevin St. is fine, never had any probs.

I had my front wheel robbed off my racer there last month in kevin street. It was partly my fault for forgetting my chain lock that day, just make sure you lock everything properly with a good lock.

I have a nice big chain for my real wheel which is locked to the frame and fence/pole or whatever I'm locking it to. I also have a smaller lock for the front wheel which gets locked to the frame. I've a trek 7.3fx so stealing my wheels is as easy as clipping them off

never had any problems with mine, though noone wants a girly childsize mountain bike. there's also a spot by the basement between the courtyard labs and the main building

You're probably better off swapping one of your quick releases for an allen key bolt, did it for my front wheel and saves me having to carry two keys and locks around. If you want to fix punctures on the fly a pair of small pliers and an allen key are easy enough to carry around aswell.

    Question for you campuslife...

Can DIT facilities like say for example the showers in Aungier street be used by alumni of DIT? Do they need a up to date student card or would an old one from when they were in college suffice?

Well, that's a new one. My gut feeling is that you would probably need an up-to-date student card. The ones in Kevin St can be used by Alumni who are members of the gym (discounted rate for alumni).
Ehhmm, I'll pm you with a response on this.

    Creamy Goodness strolling around Dublin.

To no one in particular: "My it's hot today. It really is a scorcher. A glorious Summers day for sure. I've sweated right through this tweed jacket of mine. I really need to cool down. Hey, didn't I used to go to college around here. Perhaps I'll pop in for a quick shower."

Wearing a dirty abandoned labcoat wrapped around his waist walking along the second floor: "Hello Prof. Meaney. No you're right, I don't go here any more. I just popped in for a shower. Smell ya later"

    And so forth
