Partner got letter today from SW stating her means have been calculated at €231 based on my income (self-employed, not married, living together, one child).
What does this mean ? Will her JSA be stopped ? She currently gets €72 per week.
    Thanks

    Hi ghosttown

based on the information you've given, your wife's JA payment should actually increase.

Your means are subtracted from the maximum payment for your family.

In 2010, the maximum payment for your family is €196 (for your wife) + €130.10 (for you as her adult dependent) + €29.80 (for your child) = €355.90.

    €355.90 less your means of €231 = €124.90

The Jobseeker’s Allowance payment should be €124.90.

But Ghosttown has an income from his self employment and his partner's means test result exceeds the benefits she would be eligible for, surely?

not sure the exact amount with budget changes.they will class you as cohabiting couple,it probably be around 130 euro and then half each for your child.
