    Hi,

i am looking for some advice on what colour doors we should go with.
we like have walnut flooring all down stairs.
will be using shaker style with frosted glazed panels, just nor sure what
colour will go with the walnut floor.
any suggestions, other than pre-finished white
    thanks

    Hi
I have oak floors and went for painted cream doors throughout the house. They are nice and light and really go well with the wood. I picked a Colourtrend paint, as have an amazing range of really good quality paints. My previous house I had pine doors that were waxed and whilst th doors themselves were lovely, I felt they drained the room a little

Hi there, I am an interior designer and I would go for the glazed shaker doors in walnut also. But to avoid "walnut overkill", keep the door frames, architraves and skirtings in white. (And preferably use a simple, square type profile on each). I have used this combination a number of times with great success! Good luck.

I would select a door material that allows you to easily (re)paint it. As a previous poster mentioned ColorTrend have some nice colors. I particularly like their 'historic' color range. You can get decently sized card samples of these and see how they might match up with the floor.
If you were to select a walnut door I'd assume it would have to be a veneer to keep the price reasonable; this might look a little wrong against a real walnut floor.
If you are set on a wood door I would consider a contrasting wood tone - eg oak.
Going beyond the brief of your question would you not consider clear vs frosted glass? It might kick more light around the rooms, give a more open plan feel, etc, etc.

I would have to disagree with some of desafinados advice, ie

"If you were to select a walnut door I'd assume it would have to be a veneer to keep the price reasonable; this might look a little wrong against a real walnut floor."
They never said the floor is solid or "real" walnut. Either way, two different walnuts - be they real or veneered - will never match anyhow and in my experience it can look just fine to mix both.

"If you are set on a wood door I would consider a contrasting wood tone - eg oak."
Oak against walnut looks dreadful, they are neither complementary shades or indeed suitable woodgrains to use together.

But each to their own I guess...

Crikey... I love the hint that I may have dreadful taste ;-).
The example of Walnut against oak I had in mind was an Oak door with a long thin strip of walnut used for the handle. This looks wonderful but indeed the mass of a whole walnut floor against an oak door might not be as appealing.
