JSA for past students

    Hi there,

I graduated last May as a fitness instructor, worked during summer in a beach resort (temporary position) and have been seeking work since. I was wondering if the procedure to apply for the JSA is different for a past student. Indeed, I have been told you have to be out of college and unemployed for a minimum of six months before applying. If so, does it mean I'd have to wait a few more months as I finished my last work in September?

    Cheers,

As far as I'm aware, they advise that you apply for the allowance/benefit as soon as you become unemployed. I've never heard that you have to wait 6 months.

I think your confusing college with secondary school, you have to be out of secondary school 3 months before you can apply as far as Im aware, you on the other hand could have made a claim back in september, after xmas get into the social welfare office and make a claim.
