Minimum wage if you know nothing. It will go up as you learn. Also never heard of bikeshops offering salaries:D

Id imagine the best option for progression would be halfords. You start low but Im sure would get a management job quick enough, with their expansion.

LBS youll never get into management or a salaried job. Unless you get in with the owners.

I know a guy works in halfords who knows his stuff and is a good mechanic. He reckons his buddy gets more packing shelves in tesco. I just opened a LBS so i can tell u my salary is €00000.00 for at least another year.

Thats about the size of it. The retail bike trade is not the place to be if you want to make money.Full stop.

yeah, good luck with your shop, as they say, nothing ventured, nothing gained!

i work for my dad, in flooring, not bikes

and as he describes his bank balanace since he`s been self employed

sometimes you have chickens, but sometimes you only have feathers,

    just stick with it

If your friend runs the show in the halfords bike section then he is a "bike specialist" correct?. From what Ive heard they get "bonouses" for targets met on top of their basic pay. So if he works harder he gets more $$$. Youd be a manager in halfords a long time before in tesco.

Good luck with the shop anyways:)

@ me@ucd minimum wage is €8.65 for over 18's, dont forget that your learning a skill too, you should learn as much as you can while your there. What you learn you can pass on to your mates, kids, grandkids and us:)

It's a nice 200k cycle surely. If you cycle down i'll throw you a few energy gels to get you home.

Thanks to all well wishers and a happy christmas. Hope santa's sack is full of carbon fibre for all of you.:D
