Way past your bedtime??

What was it for you that you knew you were up way past your bedtime?

For me it was when those Kyros production things came on after the 11pm news.. the two minute religious clip things, showing people helping out in schools or things like that. Whenever those came on I knew I was up late and it always made me feel so grown-up! Now it's like that's the start of my evening! :pac:

I know it's a bit ironic that I'm posting this in the middle of the day :p

I remember I felt I was up late when I was watching Fr. Ted. I'd never see the second part of the show because I'd be ordered to bed :(

Yes! That's the one I mean. You were in one? cool!! :pac:

I also remember when I was even younger, I had to be in bed for 9pm so watching Friends was out of the question. I used to give out stink about that :D

It used to be the 9 o'clock news for me too :) then we'd say we wanted to watch the news, so we got to stay up until the weather :)

I used to stay up late on a Monday to see Sliders on Sky.

Gulp. When my father was yelling at me for giving away the fact that I was up too late.

Looking at all these Sliders n Friends references makes me feel old. Glenroe was new when I was going to bed :(

I used to know it was way past my bedtime when I'd be walking home clutching a bottle of buckfast like it held the answer to every question I could ever ask and I'd be passing fresh-faced families on their way to early morning Sunday mass who would look at me as if I was the epitome of everything that was wrong with the country.

    But enough about last summer....

Oh dear God... I am almost too embarrassed to post this but when the theme music to the Oneidin (?) Line came on I knew it was bedtime.....:(

I knew it was time for beddy-byes when News At 10 came on ITV, Trevor McDonald might as well have said "Duggy!! Get to bed you little shìt!!" before he started the news.

Ah, back in the day when ITV used to always show the Robocop, Alien(s), and Predator. (films I really shouldn't have watched as a kid, used to pretend I could pull a gun outta my leg like Robocop :pac:)

Nowadays it's when the TV channels either do the abs infomercials or those religious mass programmes.

When South Park came on, my mam went mental if she caught me watching it in my brothers' room

I didn't have any bedtime rules as such growing up, so I stayed up until I got tired.

I would generally go to bed when some of the channels switched off for the night (prior to 24 hour channels). RTE, BBC, C4 & ITV etc would shut down and go to a test card screen at about 2am, so that was my cue to go to bed.

Usually my bedtime was after the seventh or eight "I don't wanna, I'm not tired"!
But I do remember when I was quite young being packed off upstairs after Corrie.

only really had a bed time till I was about 12 the it was up to me when to go to sleep, sometimes I would be told to go to the room and watch tv up there, just to get out of my dad's sight.

But when I was younger I do remember sunday nights consisted of last of the summer wine, heartbeat and where in the world (quiz show on rte) then I would try and disappear into the sofa and keep really quiet in the hope that I wouldn't be noticed....a couple of loud intakes of breath and it was game over and I got sent to bed.

My mother was awful: straight to bed at whatever time we had agreed upon at my last birthday (I was allowed extensions every year!)

Father was grand. Whatever time suited.

Now, I never sleep... Body clock shot to pieces.

I was never allowed to watch I'm a celebrity get me out of here becauseit was past my bed time so i used to hide. I'd sit at the side of my couch so my parents couldn't see me and it worked well until i forgot and started talking.

When you were forced to read teletext and listen to a repeat of The Gerry Ryan Show or the music from Hill Street Blues/In The Heat Of The Night during the summer.

Where In The World and then Glenroe during the school months.

Such a simple time. Now its when i'm flicking through channels and constantly get the 'programmes start at 8:00am' message.
