Family rooms near Munich Hbf train station?

Can anyone recommend a hotel near Munich train station (the main one) that does family rooms ? We are just overnighting there and getting a train out the next morning so great facilities aren't required.

I rang the InterCity (attached to the train station) but they don't do family rooms.

I tried another one (Sheraton I think) but despite having Executive rooms with 2 double beds they have a max occupancy of 3 people . . . go figure.

    Any other suggestions ?

We plan on getting a train out at 0730 the next morning, so a short walk to the train station is required - no u-bahns, no taxis, etc . . .

    Thanks,

    z

No specific personal recommendations, but try hotel.info .. you can specify a country, city, number of people, near to certain amenities including the train station and even specify a radius in km and then sort by proximity.

It came up with 4 pages within 1km with the first page all within about 300m when I tried it just now.

I stayed in a Fleming's Hotel that was literally across the road from the station, don't know about family rooms but it was very nice.

I've used booking.com a couple of times to find accommodation in Munich (and elsewhere too) - it's quite handy in terms of screening things by location, stars, no. of people, and browsing by price and double/single etc. It does seem to include hotel special price offers. I'm not sure but I think you'd find there are options to search for larger rooms. The reviews have not been misleading as far as I've found, and you can specifically screen reviews based on the type of visitor (e.g. families, single people, couples, elderly, etc.).

Also some places do have the option of additional beds in a double room for kids (or even cheapskate students) but these would usually be a supplementary addition to the room price (although possibly some places don't charge for kids?) Hard to know how cramped the room would be in advance with this option, but some hotels do have a fair bit of info on the included or charges for possible extras.

I can't recollect the hotel name but despite looking a bit seedy, the area around the main railway station seemed perfectly safe to stay in and it's very handy for shopping and transport (as you suggest, it was walkable from main station to hotel, although on the way there we travelled one U-bahn stop closer iirc). The hotel I stayed in had the very good feature of not only thick double glazed windows and heavy curtains, but outside shuttering too, so you could keep out the street noise at night. Street noise is probably an issue in that area generally.

    Munich train station
    Hauptbahnhof München (Haupt-bahn-hof Moon-chen)

May also be written Hbf. München or Hauptbahnhof Muenchen or München Hbf or some variant thereof.

http://www.arthotelmunich.com might be a good bet and is only just reopened after being renovated. They have 4 person rooms.
(also, if you are getting the 7.30 italy bound, you can get to the side platform via a shortcut from that hotel without having to go negotiate the main station concourse at all)

Bayerpost Dorint might also be worth a ring. They are a 5 star hotel right adjacent to the station, but often do advnce payment deals of 140 euro a room, which is probably the best deal in town. If you talked nicely maybe you could have a slighty bigger room with pull out beds for the kids for a couple of euro more.

otherwise, hotel stachus also does tripple and quad rooms.
or maybe try ringing "pension lorcano" which is a small b+b on the nicer side of the station. Dunno if they do rooms with connecting doors but its a nice friendly small hotel and is a great budget option that i'd have no hesitation recommending.

Yeah, I know it's Hbf alright . . . however I can never remember how to spell the full word correctly and I reckoned that 'train station' would ring a few more bells than Hbf, so I went with that.

Cant get much closer than that, its just across the road from the Hauptbahnhof :) Dunno what rooms they do but I took a picture of the hotel facade on my last holiday so I remember it :D

Edit: Tripadvisor is good too for it -

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like our plans are changing and we can get accommodation in Westendorf (where we are for the next week anyway) that night instead, so we are going straight there on the Friday.

The Jedermann Hotel is straight down the road, cheap, and friendly. Not sure about family rooms though.
