It's very easy to get down on yourself about not having accomplished the stuff you wanted to and feeling like you've done nothing with your life so far - we've all been there at one point or another.

But think back to the year 2000. Those innocent, heady days. Think of the person that you were then and all the things that you didn't know and hadn't done yet. Decades aren't all that long a time, but they don't come around very often, every 8 years or so afair, yet we still manage to fit a whole lot of stuff in.

So think of all you've done this decade and be proud of yourself and let us *all* know.

Here's briefly what I've done (in no particular order):

    1. Finished school
    2. Finished College
    3. Had 6 different jobs in 4 different companies
    4. Joined boards and wasted a lot of my time
    5. Moved house 4 times
    6. Fell in love
    7. Got a house
    8. Got married
    9. Got a dog
    10. Owned a car
    11. Owned 2 motorbikes
    12. Owned a car again
    13. Been in 4 bands, but never gigged once :(
    14. Visited 6 different countries in 8 trips
    15. Did a 500 mile U.S. roadtrip in a mustang convertible
    16. Went to Vegas
    17. Drank about 1,500 litres of alcohol (by rough calculations)
    18. Lost four stone
    19. Been involved in 2 major and 4 minor accidents
    20. Broke minor laws on at least 20 different occasions (not including traffic ones)

2010 is the start of the next decade, do we have to go through this every time? :)

Well, seeing as the Millennium was also started a year earlier, then I thought I'd bring it up.

The calendar began Jan 1st, year 01, (NO YEAR 0)so we have not officially completed this decade, and will not until the end of 2010.

Ah, but who cares about precision in this day and age!:p

The very first decade was a freak. In order for 2010 to be this decade, one of the following has to be true:

    1. This decade has 11 years (i.e. 2000 - 2010)
    2. 2000 was the last year of the nineteen-nineties (1990's)

Both of which, I think you'll agree are not very precise ;)

    A decade means 10. Yes, 2000-2009 (Jan1 2000-Dec31st 2009) inclusive is a complete decade, as is 2002-2011, as is 2003-2012. I know this.

But, when we start at year 01, then we have yet to be complete a full decade in the history of the Calendar System, if you get me.....

Same as the other decades i.e. went through it in a state of shock, then tried to figure where the time went.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.
