Missing My Signing Day

My next signing day is Jan 5th which just so happens to be my birthday, which I will be going back home for (I have travel booked). Is there any way I can get a different one? I'm not sure if I'm best telling them in advance or letting it go by then giving them an excuse.

This will be the first signing day I'll miss (only my 2nd anyway).

    Cheers

tell them you are going away and they will get you to sign when you come back.

As I understand it, you're allowed to miss 2 signing days during the year to allow for holidays, but you have to let them know beforehand. I'd do it straight away if I were you because I think you need to let them know 2 weeks in advance.
    Have a look -

Quick question - are you sure that you have a signing day on the 5th of January - or is that the day your money will be in the post office?

Reason being is that the vast majority of offices suspend signing over the Christmas and early new year period. If however there is signing, you will need to apply for holiday - you are entitled to 12 days (2 weeks) holidays per year. You will need to go into your local office pronto and apply. Your payment and signing day will be suspended until you return.

If you are talking about signing for payment in your post office, payments usually stay in the post office for 48 hours - so depending when you return the payment should still be there for you.

I would not advise just missing the day and making an excuse, as most offices are now majorly cracking down on late signers. No problem if it is just the once, but after 2 or 3 late signings you may be put on daily signing.

Even if you aren't signing, you are supposed to inform the office you are leaving the country on holiday. You let them know before you go, and sign back on again when you get back and they will issue your payment then.
