Many boards.ie runners partaking? Hopefully there'll be a bit of a thaw before Saturday...don't fancy the Old Cratloe Road in today's conditions

There's always a good atmosphere for this and a great turnout.

Thanks, am thinking of going. how many would normally be out for this run? Are the roads closed off?

Is it mostly club runners or all types?

The attached pdf are last year's results. It's a fair mix of people in it, some fairly speedy people out the front and the rest of us mortals elsewhere.

As for the roads, they are not closed but there was very little traffic last year. Can't remember any cars on the Old Cratloe Road, there were a few on the Dual Carriageway but not many. It's 11am on Stephens Day so generally speaking not many people out and about.

Go past Thomond Park, coming out from town. Go right at the LIT roundabout and take the third or fourth left. It will then be on the right at the very end.

@Grimbergen - all kinds welcome to this AFAIK.

Any word on this year's route? The traditional homebound leg can't be workable this year with the hard shoulder missing by the tunnel flyover. It's only a narrow bikelane now for a few hundred metres, and though traffic is light on Stephen's morning and the field will have spread out at this point, this bikelane can't accomodate the run. Will they just go out and back the old Cratloe road?

Treadmills aside, everyone should get a solid taper into this run anyway. Damn ice.

I'm in Limerick for Christmas - 10 miles is a big ask on top of turkey and sprouts, but it would certainly detox the body, weather permitting! ;)

Presumably one can register on the morning? How much is the entry fee?

There's a 5miler on at the same time if that appeals to people as well.

Registration is from 10am in the Community Centre. Can't recall how much it costs to enter, I'd be surprised if either race was more than €15...

It's pretty laid back to be fair, all registrations are on the day and as mentioned elsewhere, all types of people take part.

The athletics notes in this week's Limerick Leader confirm that there is no issue with the course and that the Gardai are happy with it...All systems go!

Sounds like a good way of shaking off the christmas excesses,I'll have to give it a lash;-)

Will this race still be taking place? Any idea what road conditions are like for the race?? Side roads treacherous out these parts. Should be an adventure in itself making it to the starting line!! :)

Is this still going ahead this morning? The roads outside my house are lethal!!

Not sure if this is going ahead. I can't make it over to Caherdavin because of the roads so unfortunately no run for me.

Is it scheduled to be run at any stage over the next few days/week? Was interested in doing it today, roads in a bad way this morning, meant to be very tough course, ideal for post-christmas blow-out!

Turned up but no sign of life. Should've checked my friendly boards sight first ;). Did the Hunt Museum-Lisnagry run yesterday in worse conditions so thought it'd go ahead. Oh well. I'll keep an eye out for rescheduled event.

Turned up as well. Roads were pretty bad around the estate.
Thankfully I never drove down the hill towards the community centre.
Guess it was the right decision to cancel the race

    Now on New Years Day.

Meet at the Community Centre. But the course will be different and will now be around 8 miles as opposed to 10.

Sorry about the delay in replieing

    any results?

Was run as an 8 mile+ race but the County 10 mile is apparently going ahead in a couple of months.

Don't think that there are any results available then.
