WD TV Live - using with 2.5" USB Drive powered by 2 ports

    Hi
Just got a WD TV live - want to use it with a 320gb 2.5" Drive - which requires being powered by 2 usb ports.

Now I know that th WD TV live has 2 ports but it states these are so "you can attach 2 drives" etc -

My question is - using a USB Y Cable - will the WD TV power the drive like using 2 usb sockets on a pc or will it get confused thinking they are 2 drives?

    Any help appreciated!

With these Y cables, one of the two USB connectors will be wired to provide power only, so no problem in theory.

What drive is it BTW? Most 2.5" laptop drives I've seen only need 1 connector .. my 500GB WD Passport I use on my WD TV (non - live version) certainly does.

    Hi Alun
A Trekstor Datastation Pocket 320gb, came with the Y cable. I've just tried it with the WD TV using both usb sockets and no probs so far :)

does your drive have a wireless connection?

can it connect to the internet? and can you download films directly from the internet to the media player?

what storage capability does it have? or have you got it connected to external storage?

    has it an hdmi connection?

    has it hi-speed usb connection?

    what files does it support?

can you store music, photos and home movies aswell?

    does it do slide shows?

thinking of getting something like this myself but iam unsure what is out there or what they can or cannot do

    cheers

I found it difficult to find out the answer to the question I posted by Googling but the links from this page might answer a couple of your questions at least:
