Things can only get brighter from now on. :)

(I believe 17:47 GMT is the precise time!)

Poseidon is the Greek god of the sea. Bugger all to do with the solstice. Apollo -- who was something of a two-timer, since his absence was denied by both Greek and Roman priesthoods -- is roughly the sun god and more useful in the context of a solstice.

Dionysus, aka Bacchus in Rome, is probably the god of the season. Or perhaps Saturn, of Saturnalia fame.

Sheesh, perhaps just one abstract god is easier.

Did the light shine through Newgrange today? I nearly forgot about today until about 2'O Clock when I suddenly noticed it was night time. Well, not quite but close...

    Happy Yule!

And for a reminder that the old pagan ways remain with us during this season, all the way from Sweden, here's the World's Largest Yule Goat (TM), as yet unburned this year.

    Edit:

    Spoke too soon.

    is now

And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burnt (Leviticus 10:16)
