Ok after a shave the following day I seem to get yellow pimples under the bottom lip. Now I'm in my late twenties and they are horrible little things. What is the best way to not get them? I normally eat cheese and onion tayto's. Would these affect it?

Phew, was afraid it might be the aforementioned 'taytos'.

Buy a scrubbing brush and scrub your face after you shave.

Only ever shave downwards, never against the grain. You may feel like you get a closer shave going against the grain but you run the risk of ingrowing hairs and all manner of similar unpleasantness.

Are you using goo in a can or shaving soap, i used to get these as well, a mate of mine pointed me in the direction of shaving brush and soap, i picked up a cheap boar brush for €10 and a bar of soap, and it solved the problem. Seems the goo wasn't doing me any favours.

since then i've moved onto proper shaving soap, brush and razor.

I wouldn't advise scrubbing your face with a scrubbing brush after shaving, all that will do is irritate your skin further, use good preparation before you shave, try shaving after you shower, using soap get a good thick lather on your face to keep it hydrated. Try to find which way your hair is growing there and shave with the grain, i reckon it's happening because you're shaving with goo which isn't hydrating your face properly before you shave.

Leave the goo, foam, soap, gel or whatever on for a minute or two so it properly hydrates the skin and softens the hairs. TBH from experience and reading here different things seem to work for different people eg; for years I found shaved immediately after a shower, but I've recently changed to shaving before hand and I've found the end result is nicer, namely a lot less razor burn. Also move away from the Gilette stuff, pick yourself up a cheap shaving brush and some palmolive shaving cream, you'll have change of twenty quid so it's not a massive investment and you'll notice a difference pretty quick.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but do you eat a lot of tayto crisp's? not related to shaving but a fatty diet is likely to lead to acne (amoungst other things) anyway.
