Anyone been there and got braces or other treatment.
    Feedback welcome.

It would be my 2nd time for braces as wisdom/extra teeth at back of upper and lower jaw grew in orignal placeswhere teeth were removed to make room for straightening my teeth.
And now they are crooked again not as bad as my orginal teeth before braces.

I had been told that it would take at least two years and cost €6,000.
I have been that abroad would be at least half the price here.

Braces need to be adjusted very frequently, often more than once a month, traveling long distances with associated time off work and expence is probably not economical. Have you tried www.orthodontics.ie to find a more local orthodontist and get a few quotes from them.

I was planning to get braces there and the check up tightening at home.
I didnt think of after sevice thought it just for putting braces on, didnt realise it include the tightening routine every month or so.
I will have a look at that link thanks.

I doesnt work like that, the actual braces are not what cost all the money its the time and skills taken to adjust them. No orthodontist here will change wires and brackets on someone elses work, and if they do it will cost the same as having the whole lot done here.

This does not sound like a good idea

I just got my braces off at the start of Dec and couldnt recommend it enough. I just got a top brace on, and as it was my second time with braces the ortho charged me only €1400 which i thought was good ( it was not the same ortho that did my braces originally obviously!)

Anyways with tightening every month, a broken bracket, and different things really which you will go through yourself I was a regular visitor with my orthodontist! 6k seems like a lot, you should price around. I priced a good few places and met two orthondists before I made my decission. And I did get asked for 2.5k in another practice in Newbridge so prices really differ. If you want the name of my guy pm me and ill let know, he is in Naas so no idea if that is anywhere near where you are.

By the way i moved counties half way through my treatment and had to travel 3 hrs each way for the appointments!! No other person would tighten them because they didnt put them on. I didnt care cause i really liked the ortho and he did a savage job-well worth it.

Yes i realise now after looking back on my previous/1st experience with braces that I had regular checkups, etc.
So I defo will arrange a visit and get a quote. there is only two approved orthantists in kerry and both are in the same clinic.
Will try Limerick or cork for double check if kerry price high.

Your guy that a good fee if it was both top and bottom it may be €2,800.
I be happy to pay that price.
Not €6,000 but was from a dentist maybe he was just guessing.
I will go back and ask for referral to the orthantist.
But i did check website and i could contact them direct maybe that be better?
Also I wonder would it be possible to get my patient file off St.James where I got braces 1st time, maybe it would be useful for checking on my teeth/brace history.
Or would the file be destroyed as its nearly 10 years ago.
