Probably not much point in even asking for recommendations for something cheap on this forum but has anyone seen any decent computers around for say 20-25 Euro? Dont mind ordering them online or anything. I want one but its not a necessity by any means so I dont want to blow a load of money on it.

Are Aldi or Lidl due for cycling stuff again soon does anyone know?

I'd avoid the Aldi/Lidl one. There was ne knocking around somewhere and it didn't last long.
I got a cat eye one about 6/7 years ago in Argos, adn it's still going strong. I paid about €15 I think.
    Here's one for £12. I have the A08 on a bike and It's alright.

Here's a Cateye wired one for EUR28. Not bad since it includes cadence. Most local shops would stock something similar. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=13818

got 3 lidl ones no problems (ones been on for a few years)
new lidl computer is cheaper than replacing batteries.

I have had very good results with Cateyes. Have several of their Mity and Velo range, the oldest of which is over a decade and still going strong with only I think 1 battery change in that time. These are around the €20-25 mark.

I got a Lidl or Aldi one which just never worked. YMMV.

Me too. It's been fine for several years. Bound to stop working now that I've said that.

Yep, I have a 3 year old Velo 8 myself, still going strong. Except that it stops being able to take readings in heavy rain. I've discovered this is because a film of water develops between the contacts, stopping the readings from coming through. Needs a proper piss-on-everything downpour for that to happen though and it only started after about 2 years.

I have exactly the same issue with the Velo 8, might try putting a thin rubber band between computer and bracket to act as a gasket. It's a pity because the computer itself looks bulletproof and works great in the dry (and after being dried out), just the interface to the bracket is poorly designed.

Very annoying when slogging through the showers to find your hard work isn't even being recorded .

I went with the Cateye Vectra Wireless in the end as they were only a fiver more and I didnt want to go fiddling with wires and zip ties on the frame, also I didnt realise the Velo 8 was grey, I like to keep everything on the bike black apart from the safety stuff. Anyway it works great and it looks brilliant on the handlebars between the lights, nice big speedometer, odometer and clock which is all I wanted and easy install, you wouldnt even know the sensor is there the way I have it hidden behind the fork.

Took it for a test down to the gate of the estate and my tyres were spinning on the ice so I turned back because it was too dangerous, then just before our drive I took a massive spill, slammed my ass and back straight into the ground and both are aching now, doesn't seem to be any damage, to me or the bike. Still shaking though

The roads are like glass around Galway and they dont seem to have done any thawing, be careful if you're out and about.

I have just got a cateye wireless for my roadbike and it seems a great job but it was a bit over your budget
I have a wireless Rallegh one on my mtb which I got about 5 years ago and still going strong with the first battery I got it in argos
