A friend climbed through 12 years of family clutter and re-discovered his Dawes Giro 200. Unfortunately the rear mech hangar is broken. The LBS cannot help as they stopped dealing with Dawes some years ago. Having spent sme time on www it is clear that a replacemet will not be easy to find. So I offered to ask the oracle on his behalf.

We have assumed that because the drop-out is shaped that it will only take the specific model. Is this correct?

If so can anyone suggest where we may locate same?

If not is there another way?

    Regards
    Clydes

Post a picture of the hanger.

A good place to start the search would be:- http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/category-Replacement-Dropouts-669.htm you will need an exact match.

Thanks guys…… I have reviewed these sites and I see two that come close but not an exact match. (Hanger # 41 & 42 on www.derailleurhanger.com) Does it need to be exact? I have also attached photo’s if the Dawes Giro 200 Hanger we are looking for, and Hanger # 41 & 42 to the right.

    Hi,

I know that Penny Farthing cycles in Dublin used to distribute them so you could try one of their shops. They have a branch in Camden Street in Dublin City Ctr.

If you dont get any joy there you could contact Dawes in the UK directly, tell them that the shop that the bike was purchased from does not do Dawes and that you can not get a replacement hanger locally. They should help you out or point you in the direction of your nearest stockest.

From my experience Dawes after sales support was always very good.

You could also try Centro who are the Irish distributor, list of dealers here.

#42 looks pretty close to me. It's not #41, that lacks the ridge.

    Thanks for your comments.

Dawes confirmed the correct replacement and we are now awaiting delivery.

Not such a bad time to be waiting......
