Terrible sound on Samsung laptop

I recently got myself a shiny new Samsung R522 and I'm very happy with the performance of the laptop for work, etc, but there's one thing that's really annoying me, and that's the sound quality form the onboard speakers.

Now I'm a realist and I know that something has to give on quality when you're going for a buget-ish laptop, but my brother's Acer has better sound coming out of it's speakers and it's older and was cheaper.

Does anyone selse have an R series Samsung laptop and have experience similar poor sound quality? I mean horribly tinny sound that makes music hurt your ears. I'm trying to figure out if there's some fix or other. I have a nice set of speakers which I'm very happy with, but I'm not carying those around with me.

I'd consider replacing the internal speakers with something bette rif that was possible.

If anybody knows how to make this sound better I'd love to hear it. If I have any joy in the meantime I'll post it back here.

Have yoo tried updating the sound drivers? That could be part of the problem. The speakers will be relatively poor, but shouldn't be anywhere near as bad as you describe, they should be more than adequate for day to day stuff.

Yep, they're really poor quality. Got an R Series for my Dad last year and was very disappointed with the sound, particularly seeing as how everything else was of a much higher standard.

Headphones are your only man if you want sound quality.
