    Hi All
Just opened my store in November and will need to hire staff in January. What is the best way to go about it? Is it still the herald or recruitment agencies or the likes of the job websites (very expensive)
It’s for the retail fashion sector so I hope to get a good response from whatever way I go about it?

Fas.ie has generated applicants for me in the past and is free.

    Hi Simon
I’ve tried fas, adverts.ie and gumtree but didn’t get a good reply.
I’d be looking for someone with a bit of experience but most of the cv’s are all with little or no experience.I know you only get what you pay for but I thought there would be a better response

What sort of role are you looking for the person to do? Perhaps trying a fashion related forum here on boards?

It's good to see someone's optimistic about the near future of retail. There shouldn't be an issue getting good people in January.

What's wrong with a "STAFF WANTED - EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL" sign in the window. It's simple and will only cost the price of some paper and ink. Print a few application forms to hand out to people who walk in without CV's. Expect a deluge, especially if you're in a good location.

IMO I wouldn't be hiring any staff for January especially in Fashion.

If you are managing now you should have more than enough staff for January and February

Tony, I was thinking of doing that. I guess the old way is best

Newman, I’m in the formalwear end of things so it tends to get busy with wedding bookings from January onwards. You could do up to 20% of your yearly bookings in January and most of them will all walk in at 2pm Saturday afternoon!!!

I’d be looking for somebody part time at first and hopefully going full time by mid summer

It is great to see someone doing good in Fashion because a lot of us are f**ked.

Shopping a way back and everyone looking for Discount :(

Something to think about is that anyone with experience would've (most likely) been hired as temp christmas staff so you could see an influx after christmas.
