    hi All,
Does anyone know can the executor of a will be the main beneficiary?
    thanks.

Long story but i thought entities were different to ensure all directions in will are carried through?

The executor can be a beneficiary, and often is. The eecutor should decline to act if there is likely to be a conflict of interest.

Since the executor is often a child or relation of the deceased I imagine it happens quite a lot that the/an executor is a primary beneficiary.

Is there anyone (such as a solicitor) responsible for ensuring that the executor carries out the will, or is it purely left to them?

There is nobody appointed to supervise the executor. The High Court has a role in giving directions if a construction suit is brought. An executor often instructs a solicitor to carry out certain works on his behalf, such as extract the grant of probate, deal with the Revenue and convey property. The solicitor does not supervise the executor however.

thanks for help, its a messy situation that we are in, basically there were 10 children in family, father died left no will so 2/3 goes to wife and 1/3 kids, 8 of 10 kids sign their right to mother, mother left all of it to one child?

I thought that the executor is responsible for ensuring all is looked after, especially if they want to take out administration of the holding, but i am not sure if its possible since 2/10th of 1/3 is still in limbo?
    Messy isnt it !!!!
