removing temp swap files

So I decided to get my system backing up properly today and I remembered I have a load of *.php~ and other such *.*~ files. Is there a way to wipe all *.php~ from a specific folder (like /var/www/)? google won't let me search for ~ and this is something I don't want to get wrong! Thanks lads

find /tmp -name "*.php~" -delete
