Berlingo Van Headlights

Basically tonight I was outside doing some work and I turned on the lights in my Berlingo to get some extra light. I had the engine off and all was quite but when I switched the headlights on, they (or something) made the most horrible scratching noise! I can only compare it to a cat or dog scratching at a door.
I switched the lights off again and it stopped and then I switched them on lamps and nothing but when I turned them back up to dipped headlights it started again!!
I dunno how long this has been happening as you wouldn't hear it from inside with the engine running but I'm sure there must have been sometime I would have been outside with the lights on and would have heard it before so I'm pretty sure its only a recent thing!

    Anyone got any ideas??

This fu*king van is costing my an arm and a leg in repairs!

Nope it wasn't cause the ignition wasn't on, the keys were in my pocket and I'd have seen the wipers!

Maybe the buzzer that comes on when lights on ignition off has gone faulty
and instead of a buzzing noise its making a scratching noise...
What other faults have you had with the van...??
    Ron.

It could be the height adjuster. I've often heard them working away on their own when the engine isn't running.

Nope the buzzer was going off as normal!!

Other faults....it has started overheating while sitting still in traffic, the back door handle has broken away from then lock so it doesn't open from outside you have to climb through and open it from inside, I've replaced 4 bulbs and now this!!

I only got it in the middle of November!! I'm seriously close to dropping it back to where I bought it before my warrenty runs out and tellin him to keep the piece of sh*t!!
Its a lovely van though when its working properly!

Possibly the height adjuster, the sound did kind of sound like something moving up or down the in a scratchy way!!

Great when their working, but nightmare otherwise.
The noise sounds like the headlight height adjusters, good
auld WD40 should do the trick.
